This project involved the construction of a new 4,200 sq metre extension to the STEM building for University of Derby.
The specific elements of the mechanical and electrical services for this project included:
- Modifications to the existing LV panels to enable the addition of the new building feeds completed around a live University campus with ‘out of hours shut downs’
- Modification to the existing back up generator
- Full black building testing
- Modifications to the existing heating district heating systems in order to pick up feeds for the new building
- Upgraded gas supply

Aura’s Role
Aura Technical Services were employed by Willmott Dixon to manage their Mechanical and Electrical contractor TClarke. We were employed from the pre-construction stage through to the commissioning and client training stage.
Detailed responsibilities included:
- Coordination and management of the extensive out of hours works
- Production of the Building User Guides
- Production of the End User Guide
- Production of the Building Log Book
- Management of the detailed testing and commissioning procedures
- Coordination and management of the security integration with the existing site wide systems
- Coordination and management of the upgraded gas infrastructure
